Control - HVAC modelling in the 21st century

Control is an integral part of HVAC design, yet it is often treated as a last resort in the later stages of a project to ensure performance specifications are met. HVAC engineers who avoid considering different control strategies as part of their early design process, not only risk opting out on significant free energy savings, but also risk oversizing issues, poor indoor air quality, as well as intermittent thermal comfort. 

In this webinar we will demonstrate how IDA ICE allows you to model any control structure you can throw at it, and why sometimes that can be a bad thing! We will show how to setup and tune common HVAC control strategies, as well as how to avoid conflicting ones. Together we will explore the potential of control strategies in a building performance energy simulation model, and show how adequate control can boost your simulation time.

Pär Carling is CEO and co-founder of EQUA Solutions Sweden and is working with IDA ICE consulting and training, including monitoring. Pär has been with EQUA since 2011 and has been using IDA ICE since 1998. Pär has a Tech.Lic. in HVAC.
